The European Union, its Member States and Europeans across the continent are mobilised in support of people fleeing the war in Ukraine. We are working on all fronts to support Ukraine with assistance, humanitarian aid and civil protection. This specific initiative wants to support researchers of Ukraine by providing them with an overview of all existing actions at European and national levels.

Ukrainians who permanently resided in Ukraine and left the country to escape war from 24 February 2022 on, may be entitled to temporary protection according to the Council Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/382 of 4 March 2022 establishing the existence of a mass influx of displaced persons from Ukraine within the meaning of Article 5 of Directive 2001/55/EC, and having the effect of introducing temporary protection.
Temporary protection will last for at least one year and it may be extended depending on the situation in Ukraine. Rights under the Temporary Protection Directive include a residence permit, access to the labour market and housing, medical assistance, and access to education for children. The relevant application for temporary protection could be found at the following link, which can be submitted at any District Immigration Office of the Police.

The University of Cyprus is providing 5 scholarships for undergraduate studies and 5 scholarships for postgraduate studies, as well as scholarships for attending Greek language courses at the School of Modern Greek. Each scholarship covers both the tuition fees and monthly living expenses.
